Horsham, PA-Grundy Insurance's Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Becky McLaughlin, had no idea how the conversation would develop, when she contacted Classic Car Club of America Executive Director, Jay Quail, to discuss how Grundy could expand their relationship with the club. As it turned out, Jay had already planned to contact Grundy Insurance to evaluate Grundy's interest and ability to provide the best possible service to the club's members.
As the discussion progressed throughout a series of phone calls, Becky and Jay spoke about Grundy supporting the club through sponsorship of CARavans, possibly making a financial contribution to the club's charitable organization and naming Grundy the Preferred Insurance Provider of the CCCA.
Having a "preferred" status with The Classic Car Club of America is not new to Grundy Insurance. Longtime members may recall that for over a decade- when Jim Grundy Sr. was running the insurance agency and Beverly Rae Kimes was the The Classic Car's editor the James A. Grundy Agency was the only advertiser in the club's magazine. Grundy was not just the only insurance advertiser in the magazine; the agency was the only commercial advertiser, period!
That resulted from an old friendship between Jim Grundy Sr.'s father-in-law, Samuel Baily, and Beverly, who respected Sam for his knowledge of cars and his early restorations. During a discussion with Beverly, Sam recommended that his son-in-law be permitted to advertize in The Classic Car, since all of the CCCA members needed insurance. Beverly agreed, and Grundy has advertised in the publication ever since.
In 1947, Jim Grundy, Sr. created the "Agreed Value" insurance policy with low rates, specifically to cover the collector cars owned by Sam and his friends. Today, Grundy Insurance still strives to offer the best insurance solutions to all CCCA members, whether they have one car or 100.
"We can do this because we're the only company providing services to car collectors, in any industry - not just insurance, with four generations of experience," says Jim Grundy, Jr. "Additionally, we use some of the best insurance companies in the world, including Philadelphia Indemnity, Chubb and Chartis."
In 2011, Grundy will be supporting CARavans and other CCCA events both financially and in-person. Grundy also hopes to make a significant contribution to the CCCA Educational Foundation, which will be based in-part by members response. Grundy Insurance is dedicated to the preservation of all antique vehicles and the clubs that support "our hobby," which has been a part of the Grundy family for over 75 years.
Please be sure to mention your membership to the CCCA when applying for insurance coverage with Grundy Insurance.
