MY CLASSIC CAR
Episode #12003
"Collector Car Insurance"
Written by Keith Fudge
In this segment of Eastwood Garage, we are joined by Jim Grundy of Grundy Worldwide Collector Car Insurance. This company has been in business for 60 years and specializes in insurance for street rods, and antique and classic cars. Jim Grundy joins Dennis to share some exciting news about product enhancements for buyers of classic car insurance from Grundy's. But before we get started, let's reacquaint ourselves with the reasons that Grundy's is the place to go for classic car insurance.
As everyone knows, the classic car hobby is booming and has literally doubled in the last few years. Consequently, this means that the need for collector car insurance has also increased. Collector car insurance from Grundy Worldwide Collector Car Insurance is more affordable than most people might think. Just to get an idea of how affordable it is, a car with approximately $20,000 in restoration costs might easily be insured for as low as $130 per year! You see, Grundy Worldwide works on the practice of an "Agreed Value Policy." This means that they work with you to decide on the value of your car. In other words, the car's value is determined and agreed upon by the company and the owner when the policy is written. So if an accident or theft occurs, the customer receives the "agreed upon" value-no questions asked! As Jim says, "Just send pictures of your car. If we agree on the value, and if you lose your car, then that "agreed value" is the amount you will receive!" There is no depreciation, and as previously mentioned, and there are no questions asked. As always, when insuring a classic car with Grundy, there is no mileage restriction on your street rod, classic, or antique car! Owners can drive their cars as far as they want and as often as they like, with the only restriction being that the car can't be used for general everyday transportation. In other words, it can't be your daily driver.
Now about those product enhancements! First of all, Jim tells Dennis that there is a new "spare parts coverage" included in the premium with no deductible on any glass on the car. There is also an added feature of $250 coverage for towing or service if your car breaks down. If the breakdown interrupts your trip significantly, there is $500 coverage for expenses such as food and lodging. The last of these new features might come in handy if you attend car shows. Grundy's now includes a $5,000 medical reimbursement in case you are injured while attending a show. Here is the best part. All of these extra features don't cost one dime. That's right! No increase in premiums!
When you think about it, this has to be one of the biggest values in the collector car industry. It's a product that any classic car owner cannot afford to be without. After all, when it comes to the safety of your classic car, as Jim says, "Peace of mind is the key. Drive your car, enjoy, have fun, and don't worry."
