Jim Grundy Jr. is the current President of The James A. Grundy Agency, "The Olde Original" of car insurance. Born in 1953, Grundy grew up in a stringent Quaker home in the suburbs of Philadelphia with one sister; as a boy, he attended the William Penn Charter School.
In 1947, Jim's father, James Grundy Sr., started a small insurance agency with the money he earned from the government under the G.I. Bill. After attending Harvard College, Jim took on a career as a competitive sailor and won five North American Championships. Soon after, Jim joined the family insurance business, in 1980.
In addition to his passion as a skilled and accomplished competitive sailor, Jim's other love is of antique cars... which is no surprise. Jim's grandfather, Samuel E. Baily, is documented to have been the first individual to restore a car. And, James A. Grundy Sr. is noted for issuing the first collector vehicle policy.
Jim's visions and commitment to the industry and hobby led him to assuming leadership of Grundy Worldwide, in 1996. Since then, the company has grown immensely, developing into the leader of Agreed Value insurance for motorized vehicles, boats, special collections, homes and more.
Jim is known nationally in the collector car and boat hobbies as a hobbyist, himself. Jim has been a long-time contributor and participant to most major collector car and boat events and has also won awards showing his cars in every major Concours.
Under Jims' leadership, Grundy's mission has been to provide optimum protection to collectors every day and to make it easier, more cost-effective and more enjoyable for people to insure some of their most-prized possessions.
