The Amelia Island 2013 Concours d’Elegance Car Tour
Presented by Grundy Insurance
A group of special automobiles, representing the best of their breeds, will participate in a 3 day progressive tour starting near Charleston, SC, and ending with a Friday morning arrival at the Amelia Island 2013 Concours d’Elegance! We’ll visit attractions, enjoy Southern hospitality, and stay in top hotels along the way. Proceeds of the tour will support charities selected by the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.
This tour is being designed for Big Brass and Classic automobiles manufactured prior to World War II. We will drive between 80 and 100 miles per day for the first two days, followed by an easy morning drive into Amelia. Grundy Insurance will provide a support vehicle plus a mechanic to provide roadside assistance should it be required. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license, whether domestic or foreign. All vehicles must be registered and insured or carry an appropriate dealer or transporter tag.
Hotel arrangements have been made for our group at the following luxury hotels:
March 5 – We will be staying at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, located just south of Charleston, SC. This is a well-known golf resort that features many other recreational activities such as horseback riding and the beach. Click HERE for an overview of the hotel and its possibilities. There is plenty to enjoy both here and in nearby Charleston should you wish to arrive early to prepare for our tour. If so, you may make your own arrangements to stay up to three days prior at The Sanctuary at our reduced group rate. Simply call 800-654-2924 and identify yourself as a tour participant, and the staff will be glad to help you.
March 6 – The Inn At Palmetto Bluff is well known for upscale accommodations in a very fine smaller scale hotel. Situated close to Savannah, the Inn will be the perfect stopover after our first day of touring, and a fitting launching point for the next day’s fun. Click HERE to see what lies in store for us at Palmetto Bluff.
March 7 – Have you ever wondered what life on a plantation could be like? For our final night’s stay, you are in for a treat. The White Oak Plantation, sited a short distance from Amelia Island, will welcome us as it has for other VIPS including a President of the United States! Founded in 1768, the plantation has produced timber and food in the past, but now is used as a cultural center and provides sanctuary for wildlife. You may even wish to visit their private zoo during our stay! To learn more about this destination of distinction, click HERE.
At each stop, group dinners and breakfasts will be provided, and secure parking for the cars will be available.
The entry deadline is February 4, or until we fill our vehicle allotment. The entrance fee for the tour is $3,000.00 (double occupancy) per car. This fee covers hotel accommodations and group meals from Tuesday, March 5 to Friday morning, March 8, and we will be making a donation of excess funds to the charity chosen by The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.
To enter, click here to download the entry form, and send it along with your $500.00 deposit to William Hoffer, Grundy Insurance, 400 Horsham Road, Horsham, PA 19044 no later than February 1. Please make your check payable to Grundy Insurance and write “Amelia Island Car Tour” on the memo line,
Please Note: Hotel accommodations in Amelia Island are not provided as part of this package, and we suggest you should make your Amelia hotel arrangements as soon as possible!
